Groningen, 21-11-2008. Kasper van Kooten treedt vanavond in Groningen op met zijn programma Veelvraat. Doet hij niet, zols op het kaartje staat vermeld, in De Oosterpoort, maar in de Stadsschouwburg.

Groningen, 21-11-2008. Kasper van Kooten is going to play his show Veelvraat (Dutch for greedy-guts, accoring to my dictionary) tonight. The information on the ticket is not right, since the show has been moved to the Stadsschouwburg.

Groningen, 20-11-2008. Vanavond gaan een vriendin en ik naar een concert van Dhafer Youssef. Ik ken zijn muziek niet, dus ik laat mij verrassen.
Vorig seizoen zouden we samen naar dit toneelstuk gaan, maar dat ging niet door omdat ik ziek was. Ik ben blij dat we nu wel kunnen gaan.

Groningen, 20-11-2008 . Today, a friend and I will atttend a concert by Dhafer Youssef. I don't know his music, so I'll let him surprise me.
Last season, the same friend and I were supposed to go this play, but we couldn't go, because I was ill. I'm glad there is no reason why we can't attend tonight!

Ok. Story time. I brought my kid sister to the concert out of love and out of the lack of anyone else more favorable.

We had these seats, and they were fine. Third level isn't bothersome if we're feeling the music, and the seats were right across from the stage. We found our seats, and then went back downstairs to get some shirts before the show. After ten minutes of line-waiting, we get our shirts and the first opening band starts up.

Up the elevator to the third floor, and we almost made it to our section's gate when a man with glasses and black hair stops us. He tells us we are not in trouble for anything and says he and his partner, a sizable woman, are with the tour (whether it be livenation.com, the AAC, or Coldplay itself, we don't know). He asks us if we're fans and they make some jokes about my sister's hypothetical Chris Martin shrine. They ask us for our tickets, they say that those can't do, and after some eye-closing, two floor seats - SECOND ROW - are in our hands.

Chris Martin was two feet from me at certain points of the concert - the stage goes in a horseshoe kind of block - and we did indeed make eye contact. Probably one of the most memorable events of my young life. My throat is sore.

PS- I apologize for any feelings of envy, jealousy, homicide, hatred, or otherwise - I know that it was probably one of the luckiest things I could experience and I am extremely grateful. (These apologies extend with the most sincerity to Whitty, Requiem, and Bacon).

PSS- The holy tickets are sitting on a setlist that a guard who was next to us gave us at the end of the show, and the orange things are tissue butterflies, three out of several million that shot out in the climax of "Lovers In Japan."
